Steven Leiter

Steven Leiter is a partner and co-founder of Leiter, Belsky & Tharp, an AV rated law firm by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Leiter has handled claims and litigated and tried cases throughout the state of Florida involving Personal Injury Protection, insurance coverage, auto negligence, uninsured motorist, premises liability, negligent security, wrongful death, and products liability. Mr. Leiter has been qualified as an expert witness to testify at attorney fee hearings in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties and previously served as an arbitrator in PIP insurance claims.

Mr. Leiter was a faculty member and presenter on “Emerging Issues in PIP” at the 2015 Annual Education Program of the Conference of County Court Judges of Florida (July 2015) and was previously selected to serve as a faculty member for a PIP presentation at the Annual Business Meeting of the Conference of County Court Judges (July 1996). In addition to being a frequent lecturer for insurance companies on PIP issues and proper claims handling procedures, he has also served as a faculty member at seminars sponsored by Foxmoor Continuing Education f/k/a Professional Education Systems Institute, LLC (PESI) since 2004, including Hot Topics & Trends in Florida PIP Litigation (August 2004), Hot Topics, Trends and the Future of P.I.P. (April 2006), Florida PIP Litigation: Hot Topics, Trends and the Future of P.I.P. (April 2009, April 2010, April 2011, October 2011, April 2012, and October 2012), Florida’s New PIP Law – Automobile Accident Turned Train Wreck ( October 2013 and May 2014), and Florida PIP Law: Not the Same Ol’ Same Ol’ – Current Issues & Trends (May 2015 and October 2015). He also presented Florida’s New PIP Law – Understanding PIP After Rick Scott to the Broward County Bar Association (January 2013). In the December 1993 edition of FOR THE DEFENSE, he authored the article titled, Abrogation of Joint and Several Liability for Non-Economic Damages.

Mr. Leiter is a Miami native who earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia (1989), and his Juris Doctor (cum laude), from the University of Miami School of Law (1992), where he also served as an Articles and Comments Editor for The Inter-American Law Review.

He is admitted to practice in Florida (1992), Georgia (1995), the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida (1993) and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2001), and is also a member of the Broward County Bar Association.
